Best Worst Water Bottles

Water Bottle Battles

*warning: this is a mommy rant. I apologize in advance.*

best worst water bottles

Oh my gosh! We have oodles and oodles of water bottles up in heyuh! Every day when I pick up my son he says, “My bag is wet. The water bottle leaked.”  UGHHHHH. [insert me shaking my fist the sky yelling “por que!!!”] I thought it was all his fault, but it isn’t. Water bottles are so poorly designed! We have an entire bin dedicated to the worlds best worst water bottles! Why is it SO hard to make a water bottle that is both functional and affordable?

Out of all of them we have TWO that actually do their job. Of course, they are the most expensive ones like Camelback and Nalgene. I like to spend about $2 on a water bottle! I know that’s cheap, but who wants to spend $10 on cup!!??

I want to just shoot out the ones that are no good like at a Carnival!

{and this isn’t even all of them! There are a couple in the dishwasher, a couple on the floor in the car and a couple in the sink!}

The school my son goes to has a “no sippy cup” rule. I guess some kid got made fun of one year, so that’s that. I usually send juice boxes, but I can’t stand the wrappers that go over the straws! I spend half my life picking those things up off the floor and out of the dogs mouth (SO GROSS!!). Also, they are supposed to be able to open it themselves, without any help from the teacher. You know some of those Nalgene’s require a Hulk sized bicep to even budge!

So if you are looking for some of the best worst water bottles, what you have to do is order a lot of supplements. We have a GNC water bottle, a water bottle, a Gulfarium water bottle (you can’t go to an amusement park type place and NOT get the ridiculously overpriced Icee in a Trademarked cup!) The rest of the gaggle of bottles come from random places like gas stations, thrift store, and the grocery store. ….ok, ok, JUST KIDDING about the thrift store. I just wanted to see if you would believe me! haha  I’m not THAT cheap!

I check out those cool Spiderman and Batman water bottles with the straw that closes down and they are just so expensive! How in the world would I get that thing washed out and ready to use the next day? I’d need about 10 of them to keep up with packing his lunch!

So we saw this cup on TV…probably Nickelodeon because that’s they only channel that has an obscene amount of commercials aimed at 4 yr olds! “As Seen on TV” and the dang brood of “Pillow Pet” toys kill me! “I’m putting that on my Christmas list for next year” he says. Ok, and back to the Disney Channel we go…or PBS :) Why do I always digress at this point in my posts? K, so the “Wow Cup” from “As Seen On TV” doesn’t leak no matter what. An elephant could step on it or a Mack Truck could run over it and it won’t leak. So for $20 I guess it’s worth it, but I just can’t pay $20 for ONE cup!! His teacher and my mom’s cousin, I call her Aunt Kathy (Hi Aunt Kathy!) told me about a cheaper version from Sassy that you can get at Wal-mart or Amazon for $10 for two I think. It doesn’t have a “spout” so I don’t know if it is considered a sippy cup, but I’m not just looking for Lil’ Bear. I want to make a Spark drink and shake it up and NOT have water dribble out or take a drink and NOT have it leak out over the outfit I JUST PUT ON 😐

So if you have a water bottle for yourself or your child that you feel would pass the “backpack test” or the “shake up a drink test” PLEASE PLEASE let me know! I swear, I will toss of these junky bottles!! My sanity is at stake here people!!

water bottles

 Water bottles begone! I’m tossing all but two today I can promise you that! (or should I donate them to a thrift store for those that DO buy them from there? snarky snarky!

    Ok, the Aunt is going to look for a link of another that I use with the kids. Of course, I got 5 of them at Marden’s and only spent a fraction of the price. (a real small fraction) I will get back with a link if I can find one

      I think those are like the ones at Target. Maybe I could get lucky and find them on clearance, but I don’t allow myself to go enough! They are always around $13 when I see them. Why so expensive??? GRRRRR.

    Well, I came here without seeing my name. And yes both Lewsiton and Rumford have Marden’s. Not sure they have the thermoses since I got them quite awhile ago. Both the wow and sassy may not work well in backpacks since they have small holes around edges under the lip. If a child knocks it over it doesn’t spill like a normal cup would but still I think it could leak some in a bag. Although wow does have a cover
